North Yorkshire is England's largest
County, and is generally regarded as one of the prettiest.
In North Yorkshire there are a good
number of attractive market towns, and Thirsk, is
undoubtedly one of them, being close to East / West Motorways, the
A19, and the
A1(M). Easily found, as you will discover on the "Find Us" page, yet
still very much a "tucked away", quaint town.
Thirsk has its own Flat Race Course,
which is less than half a mile away from the Black Lion.
Acquired in July, 2008 by Richard
Bainbridge, a local resident of this part of North Yorkshire, the
Black Lion has undergone a complete refurbishment. Situated in the
market square of this pleasant town makes the
Black Lion Bar & Bistro a most convenient establishment, as not only the Race Course is
close at hand, but there is also a Tesco store about the same
distance away.
"Bistro - what's a Bistro?", you may
be thinking. A Bistro is described in quite a few different ways by
the dictionaries, but perhaps the most common description is "A small
informal restaurant that serves wine". We have rather more
than that, having 3 Dining Rooms, and we sell much more than merely
wine. If you come and have a look, you will see what we mean!
Below we have a little Slide Show for you. This has some random
pictures of Thirsk in general, and the Black Lion in particular. |
